DRB-HICOM has always believed that education is the precursor for social change and betterment, as well as a catalyst for sustainable development. As the nation’s key contributor in the automotive sector, we have taken it upon ourselves to continuously build talents for that industry through the establishment of the DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (DRB-HICOM U), based in Pekan, Pahang and Akademi Saga, which is based in Shah Alam, Selangor.
DRB-HICOM University serves two major roles. As a private educational institution, DRB-HICOM University is committed to produce skilled professionals to join the workforce in the automotive sector. It also serves as an institution which enables workers of DRB Group of Companies to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge.
DRB-HICOM U plays an active role within the Group in realising the national aspiration for creating a knowledgeable and skilful workforce as prescribed in the New Economic Model by providing a continuous flow of trained and skilled workers to the Malaysian automotive industry. DRB-HICOM U is one of few universities in Asia focused purely on the automotive industry.
DRB-HICOM University is owned by HICOM University College Sdn. Bhd. (HUCSB), a subsidiary wholly owned by DRB-HICOM Berhad. With approval from The Ministry of Higher Education, DRB-HICOM University was officially established on 2 April 2010.
Akademi Saga is a vocational training institution focused on building after-sales skills for DRB-HICOM’s automotive sector operations.
